Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and design of scalable, secure, and resilient platform services.
- Drive technical strategy and influence architectural decisions across multiple engineering teams.
- Design and deliver high-scale distributed systems and APIs for Salesforce’s global digital experiences.
- Partner with Product and Engineering leadership on technical roadmaps aligned with business goals.
- Advance engineering excellence through system design, testing, observability, scalability, and operational maturity practices.
- Drive innovation in Agile development, DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud-native engineering practices.
- Evaluate modern technologies and AI-assisted engineering workflows to improve developer productivity and software quality.
- Mentor and coach engineers while fostering ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Evolve platform capabilities supporting dynamic and personalized customer experiences globally.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software development experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining large-scale, highly performant, and resilient production services.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related technical subject area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with microservices architecture, domain-driven design, and RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
- Experience building high-scale microservices on AWS, GCP, or another public cloud platform.
- Experience with AWS API Gateway, Lambda, SNS, SQS, ElastiCache, and AppSync; NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB; graph databases such as Neo4j and Neptune; and data-streaming tools such as Kafka and Kinesis.
- Backend development experience using JavaScript or TypeScript and runtimes such as Node.js.
- Experience with web security, including JWT lifecycle management, CORS, CSP, and XSS prevention.
- Experience using AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Windsurf, or Codex to accelerate software delivery.
- Experience with test-driven development and testing frameworks such as Jest and Playwright.
- Experience with service orchestration tools such as Terraform.
- Preferred experience with consumer/B2C identity packages such as Okta or Auth0 and identity protocols such as OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- The stated base salary ranges are $172,500–$260,100 annually generally and $207,800–$285,800 annually in select San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area locations.
- The role may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, and benefits.
