Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks and libraries for API, UI, security, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Develop production-quality test harnesses, mocks, performance tools, and simulators for IoT devices and video streams at scale.
- Build testability tooling for distributed event-driven components including Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, and Kinesis.
- Integrate and optimize automated test suites within CI/CD pipelines.
- Participate in architecture discussions, RFCs, design sessions, code reviews, and technical decision-making.
- Create test strategies and plans for IoT workflows, video features, distributed cloud systems, performance, and resilience.
- Support monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, and device-connectivity investigations.
- Mentor engineers and QA team members and act as a technical advocate for quality across the engineering organization.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software testing experience with strong hands-on coding ability.
- Strong Python programming skills and working proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript and/or Rust.
- Experience designing and building test automation frameworks from the ground up across API, UI, or integration layers.
- Comfort working in Linux environments.
- Understanding of AWS services such as Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, and Kinesis in distributed serverless SaaS applications.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and treating test infrastructure as an engineering deliverable.
- Ability to read production code, contribute to code reviews, and collaborate technically with developers.
- Strong systems-thinking skills for distributed, event-driven, and resilience-focused architectures.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide technically substantiated feedback.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical/engineering experience.
- Experience with CDK, Terraform, or Serverless Framework is preferred.
- Experience with IoT communication protocols, device simulators, video development or streaming technologies, monitoring and observability tools, Snowflake, Elasticsearch, open-source testing tools, or fast-growing SaaS environments is preferred.
