Base Salary
$178k - $313k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate critical scalable services such as user identity, friend graph, and core persistence systems.
- Collaborate across teams to understand product requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver technical solutions.
- Test and debug work while maintaining high standards for code correctness, security, availability, scalability, and production readiness.
- Apply operational excellence and cost-management practices to backend systems.
- Independently execute medium-sized features over multiple weeks and pull requests.
- Investigate and resolve incidents or hotfixes when needed.
- Use AI tools and modern engineering workflows while auditing generated output for architectural, performance, and security risks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent years of practical work experience.
- At least 6 years of post-bachelor’s software development experience, or a master’s degree plus 5 years of post-graduate experience, or a PhD plus 2 years of post-graduate experience.
- Experience with backend services and distributed systems.
- Experience with highly available systems operating at significant scale.
- Experience in at least one area such as large-scale microservices, cloud computing and storage, infrastructure and system design, security, networking and data storage, machine learning and natural language processing, or tools.
- Experience with Java, C++, and/or Python.
- Experience with NoSQL solutions, Memcache or Redis, Kubernetes, or Google or AWS services.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and learn and apply evolving AI systems and tools.
