Responsibilities
- Design and build large-scale rendering systems for modern web applications.
- Develop browser-based rendering infrastructure that reliably executes complex JavaScript applications.
- Research how modern frontend frameworks render and deliver content.
- Improve rendering quality, completeness, and performance across diverse websites.
- Optimize rendering cost, latency, resource utilization, and throughput at internet scale.
- Translate rendering research into reliable production systems.
- Participate in coding interviews as part of the hiring process.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a software engineer working on production backend or infrastructure systems.
- Expertise in several areas including browser rendering, the Chromium rendering pipeline, JavaScript execution in browsers, headless browser execution, browser instrumentation, and Chrome DevTools Protocol.
- Experience with Playwright, Puppeteer, Selenium, or similar frameworks is relevant.
- Knowledge of modern web applications and frameworks such as React, Vue, Angular, and Svelte.
- Knowledge of server-side rendering, client-side rendering, streaming rendering, single-page applications, progressive web apps, resource loading, lazy loading, and modern JavaScript bundles.
- Experience with high-throughput content processing pipelines, distributed systems design, and performance optimization is beneficial.
- Open-source contributions, active engineering-community involvement, conference talks, or technical publications are beneficial.
