Responsibilities
- Build highly scalable distributed solutions across the stack for Meraki Dashboard and Cisco Catalyst features.
- Develop backend services and safely roll them out to customers using feature flags and A/B tests.
- Improve system reliability, performance, scalability, and operational excellence through tests, telemetry, and alerting.
- Own projects from conception through production release and make architectural and system design decisions.
- Lead projects by defining scoped milestones and metrics based on loosely defined business problems.
- Solve software defects, networking issues, and customer-reported problems.
- Collaborate with engineering managers, product managers, and cross-functional teams while mentoring other engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field with 12+ years of related experience, or a master’s degree with 8+ years, or a PhD with 5+ years.
- At least 3 years of professional coding experience with web backend technologies such as Ruby on Rails or similar, along with Go, Ruby, or Python.
- Experience safely releasing services to customers using feature flags and A/B tests.
- Demonstrated experience making architectural and system design choices, communicating trade-offs, and mentoring team members.
- Practical experience with emulation and simulation of networking devices.
- Experience leading projects and defining progress metrics.
- Preferred experience with networking devices, Cisco CML, systems software design, large-scale distributed networking solutions, and geographically distributed engineering teams.
