Base Salary
$235k - $317k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and evolution of Adyen’s global merchant onboarding systems to minimize time-to-value without compromising stability.
- Design an onboarding concierge that uses real-time reasoning and natural dialogue to ask necessary questions and resolve compliance blockers.
- Translate regulatory and business requirements into compliant, performant onboarding software and architecture.
- Shape the strategic roadmap with the Director of Engineering, Staff Engineers, and Product teams while addressing systemic activation bottlenecks.
- Mentor engineers and establish technical standards supporting a globally consistent user journey with regional regulatory flexibility.
Requirements
- Track record of building resilient, distributed systems and thinking in terms of merchant journeys and system bottlenecks.
- Deep understanding of security-by-design, including KYC, identity verification, and regulated data handling.
- Deep proficiency in Java and experience building high-concurrency API architectures.
- Experience or deep technical interest in production-grade LLM interfaces, including harnesses, policy enforcement, evaluations, RAG architectures, and secure data handling.
- Ability to align Risk, Operations, Product, and other stakeholders around a unified technical vision.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring new visa sponsorship; visa transfers may be supported, but H-1B CAP sponsorship is unavailable.
