Base Salary
$230k - $266k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, optimization, and architecture of the core navigation engine across hardware platforms, devices, and customer applications.
- Integrate GNSS receivers, inertial sensors, wheel odometry, cameras, and other hardware through scalable abstractions.
- Drive performance tuning and low-level optimization on Linux-based ARM and x86 devices and bare-metal microcontrollers.
- Own board bring-up, driver development, hardware validation, and integration of new platforms and peripherals.
- Work with UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, gdb, JTAG, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes to resolve hardware-software and timing-critical issues.
- Translate customer needs into durable technical solutions and collaborate with hardware, firmware, cloud infrastructure, and customer-facing teams.
- Design and maintain testing and verification strategies and proactively identify coverage gaps.
- Mentor junior engineers, establish best practices, and contribute to architecture, technical strategy, and roadmap planning.
- Use Python or similar tools for automation, scripting, and debugging.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software development experience with significant depth in embedded or platform-level systems.
- Ability to design and implement major software components from architecture through testing and production deployment.
- Ability to decompose high-level goals into actionable tasks, schedules, and milestones and deliver against commitments.
- Expertise in modern C++14 or later, including system-level programming, memory management, and concurrency.
- Strong experience with embedded Linux, RTOSes, and bare-metal systems.
- Hands-on experience with board bring-up, driver development, and timing-critical systems.
- Proficiency with UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, gdb, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
- Experience designing and owning testing and verification strategies for complex systems.
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Bonus: experience with GNSS, state estimation, Kalman filtering, or inertial navigation.
- Bonus: knowledge of positioning technologies and error sources such as multipath, drift, and bias.
- Bonus: background in safety-critical or highly available systems in automotive, robotics, or aerospace.
- Bonus: familiarity with IP networking in Linux-based operating systems.
