Responsibilities
- Lead discovery and technical scoping, translating ambiguous product requirements into architecture, phased delivery plans, and estimates.
- Design and evolve OIN APIs, data models, integration frameworks, and security posture with attention to compatibility and extensibility.
- Drive technical decisions across ambiguous, multi-team dependencies and align engineering, product, architecture, and other stakeholders.
- Modernize and incrementally evolve a large, long-lived production system without disrupting customers or integrations.
- Maintain high standards for security, testing, code quality, vulnerability remediation, and threat-aware design.
- Own production health through root-cause analyses, corrective-action follow-through, and observability improvements.
- Use AI coding assistants and AI-augmented workflows across design, development, review, and testing, and help the team adopt them effectively.
- Mentor engineers, raise the technical bar, and represent the team’s technical perspective in cross-functional forums.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software development experience with demonstrated technical leadership and mentorship.
- Deep proficiency in Java or a comparable strongly typed backend language or framework.
- Experience designing, building, and operating complex large-scale distributed systems in a cloud environment, including caching, asynchronous processing, and data migrations at scale.
- Strong experience with identity and access protocols including OAuth 2.0/OIDC, SAML, and/or SCIM.
- Experience designing and evolving APIs and integration frameworks used by external developers or partners, including consideration of backward compatibility, versioning, and developer experience.
- Ability to drive technical direction across ambiguous, multi-team dependencies and align stakeholders around a plan.
- Security- and compliance-aware approach to systems where correctness failures have customer or compliance consequences.
- Ability to apply AI tools across the software development lifecycle and help teams adopt them effectively.
- Excellent written communication and ability to structure ambiguous problems and drive them to closure.
- Preferred: experience integrating with specialized third-party enterprise systems with strict compliance or data-handling requirements.
- Preferred: experience with self-serve developer platforms or partner/ISV ecosystems.
- Preferred: front-end proficiency with React or a similar technology.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

- Annual base salary range for candidates located in Canada is $160,000–$220,000 CAD.
