
Gameplay Engineer Intern

Responsibilities
- Prototype, implement, and polish player-facing gameplay mechanics in partnership with designers and senior engineers.
- Maintain existing gameplay systems with attention to readability, performance, and multiplayer stability.
- Investigate, reproduce, and resolve gameplay bugs, edge cases, and regressions.
- Collaborate with artists, animators, designers, and QA to bring features to release-ready quality.
- Participate in technical design discussions, engineering stand-ups, and code reviews.
- Document gameplay systems and contribute to internal workflows and developer quality-of-life tools.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s, master’s, or equivalent degree program in computer science, game engineering, software engineering, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, memory management, and debugging.
- Working knowledge of modern C++ or C demonstrated through coursework, projects, game jams, or open-source contributions.
- Hands-on game development experience through personal projects, game jams, school capstones, custom engine work, or modding.
- Clear technical communication, collaboration, curiosity, and willingness to learn.
- Genuine interest in multiplayer, competitive, or live-service games.
- Applicants must be undergraduates enrolled in an accredited degree program in summer 2027 and graduating no earlier than December 2027.
- Preferred: familiarity with multiplayer networking concepts, 3D game engines, gameplay scripting languages, source control systems, real-time profiling, benchmarking, or optimization.
