Responsibilities
- Design and build AI agents that plan, retrieve, and reason over real-world information to complete open-ended tasks.
- Build tool interfaces and context-engineering systems that enable frontier models to use search and other tools effectively.
- Mine and analyze usage data to continually improve agent behavior.
- Turn new model capabilities into reliable product features and own them from prototype through production.
- Define evaluations, metrics, and guardrails for agent accuracy, grounding, and safety.
- Improve reasoning, planning, tool use, and grounding against real user tasks.
- Build backend and infrastructure systems that run agents reliably at high volume.
- Collaborate with search, ML, and product teams to align agent and platform capabilities.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of software engineering experience and a track record of shipping complex production systems.
- Strong understanding of large language models and transformer architecture.
- Hands-on experience building agentic systems involving tool calling, planning, and multi-step or long-running task execution.
- Experience mining and analyzing usage data to improve agent behavior.
- Strong grasp of context engineering and tool interfaces for frontier language models.
- Experience defining metrics and evaluations for system quality, accuracy, grounding, and safety.
- Experience with agentic frameworks such as LangChain or DeepAgents and tracing tools such as LangSmith is valuable.
- Experience with retrieval-augmented generation, search, information retrieval, post-training, reinforcement learning, fine-tuning, evaluation systems, developer platforms, SDKs, tool/plugin systems, or workflow engines is advantageous.
- Strong product judgment, ownership, and ability to work effectively on a small, fast-moving team.
