Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of complex cloud-native platform components and services through production operation.
- Serve as technical lead for major features and initiatives, translating ambiguous problems into scalable designs.
- Design, code, and review Kubernetes operators, controllers, infrastructure automation, and platform services.
- Own technical initiatives end to end, including architecture, implementation, deployment, and operational support.
- Identify and resolve risks related to reliability, scalability, operability, and engineering excellence.
- Partner with Principal and Distinguished Engineers on platform architecture and long-term technical strategy.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and technical guidance.
- Drive technical strategy through architectural reviews, technical proposals, and cross-functional collaboration.
Requirements
- 14+ years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native platforms in production.
- Experience building and operating Kubernetes platform infrastructure at scale, including deployments, upgrades, and production operations.
- Hands-on experience developing Kubernetes Operators, Admission Controllers, Custom Resource Definitions, or other platform extensions.
- Experience with managed Kubernetes services including EKS, AKS, and GKE, as well as self-managed Kubernetes environments.
- Experience supporting cloud-native database platforms, large-scale data infrastructure, or stateful services on Kubernetes.
- Strong Go software engineering experience developing operators, controllers, CRDs, and platform automation.
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes orchestration, scheduling, security, storage, networking, and workload management.
- Experience operating stateful and distributed workloads such as databases and data services on Kubernetes.
- Extensive experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including compute, networking, security, and identity services.
- Strong background in microservices, event-driven systems, and distributed application architectures.
- Hands-on experience with containers, CI/CD, GitOps, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Crossplane.
- Experience implementing observability and reliability practices involving metrics, logging, tracing, monitoring, alerting, and service-level objectives.
- Experience integrating AI into engineering and platform work, including AI-powered tooling, automated operations, or agentic fleet-management systems.
- Preferred experience with container networking, service mesh, mTLS, workload identity, secrets management, observability, declarative infrastructure tooling, and distributed data or compute workloads on Kubernetes.
