Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of technology projects and a team of developers working on distributed microservices and full-stack systems.
- Build and maintain Capital One Travel checkout and “My Trips” experiences across multiple travel products.
- Develop cloud-based solutions, reusable frameworks, service boundaries, integration patterns, and APIs.
- Provide technical leadership across Agile teams and establish standards for design, development, and operational excellence.
- Mentor engineers, participate in technology communities, and contribute to professional development.
- Identify opportunities for refactoring, technical debt reduction, and distributed-system performance improvement.
- Influence long-term technology strategy and evaluate emerging tools and practices in a “you build it, you own it” environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field is required.
- At least four years of software engineering experience is required; internship experience does not apply.
- At least two years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies is required.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, seven or more years coding with multiple listed languages, database experience, cloud experience, open-source framework contributions, and front-end JavaScript or TypeScript framework experience.
- Preferred experience includes APIs, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated testing frameworks, Git-based version control, cloud troubleshooting, observability, AI-based coding tools, mentoring, and leading cross-functional or large-scale engineering initiatives.
- Preferred experience includes establishing coding standards and design patterns across teams.

- Full-time annual salary ranges vary by location: $197,300–$225,100 in McLean, Virginia and $215,200–$245,600 in New York, New York.
- The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and long-term incentives.
