Responsibilities
- Build and operate Python backend services on AWS, including Lambda functions, DynamoDB, Aurora, and event-driven production pipelines.
- Address backend challenges involving latency, reliability, and scale.
- Own systems end to end from architecture and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and incident response.
- Make key architectural decisions and shape how systems are built.
- Contribute to code reviews, mentoring, and improvements to development tooling and processes.
- Collaborate directly with Product and Design to shape future product development.
- Use agentic AI tools in the daily engineering workflow.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including a proven track record of leading complex projects in a senior capacity for 2+ years.
- Deep expertise in Python and backend systems on cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
- Strong system design skills and the ability to make and defend architectural trade-offs.
- Depth in at least one of data pipelines and storage, event-driven architectures, caching and performance, or serverless systems.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for aligning technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a hybrid model from the Berlin HQ, London office, or Iasi hub.
- Preferred experience with Apache Iceberg, AWS Athena, AWS Glue, Apache Spark, Kinesis, Redis, SAM, or CloudFormation.
