Responsibilities
- Develop backend RAG capabilities involving retrieval, reranking, context construction, prompt orchestration, and response aggregation.
- Build multimodal and multi-type data pipelines with extraction, OCR, chunking, enrichment, embeddings, incremental re-indexing, and rollback.
- Optimize hybrid retrieval, multi-stage recall, reranking, deduplication, diversity controls, and graph-based retrieval for relevance and traceability.
- Build grounded answer-generation workflows with citations, evidence snippets, source metadata, confidence scoring, refusal handling, and traceable explanations.
- Implement security and compliance controls including RBAC/ABAC, data classification and masking, audit logging, encryption, and secrets management.
- Support data governance, retention, access policies, metadata, lineage, and provenance.
- Establish offline and online quality evaluation, A/B testing, and regression validation.
- Collaborate with AI infrastructure, data platforms, information security, and product teams to deploy RAG capabilities across systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- At least 3 years of backend engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python with FastAPI or Go.
- Familiarity with RAG components including chunking, embeddings, hybrid search, reranking, context-window management, citations, attribution, and evaluation.
- Practical experience or strong familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native engineering.
- Ability to support troubleshooting and performance optimization with guidance.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills and the ability to deliver under tight timelines.
