Responsibilities
- Own the agentic platform end to end from research prototype through production.
- Build the durable orchestration layer for long-running, multi-stage scientific workflows.
- Architect workflow orchestration, evaluation frameworks, and event-driven distributed systems for scale, resilience, and reliability.
- Define SDK abstractions and API contracts between model and agent outputs and downstream consumers.
- Deliver infrastructure-as-code reference implementations and reusable containerized service patterns.
- Improve platform cost efficiency and scalability while preserving performance and accuracy.
- Explore and standardize agent design and deployment patterns and set technical and architectural standards.
- Coordinate integration points, dependencies, and delivery across modeling, agent, and product teams.
- Mentor engineers and scientists and provide technical direction for the platform.
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of professional software development experience.
- Track record architecting and maintaining large-scale distributed systems in production.
- Deep expertise in workflow orchestration and event-driven architecture, including stateful execution, idempotency, durable retries, and replay.
- Strong AWS cloud-native engineering experience with infrastructure-as-code, containerization, and autoscaling.
- Experience taking systems from prototype to hardened, observable, operationally excellent production.
- Experience designing SDKs, APIs, and data contracts for multiple downstream teams.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build organizational consensus around platform decisions.
- Collaborative working style and ability to lead through influence across scientists, engineers, and downstream teams.
- Track record setting technical strategy and mentoring engineers in a growing engineering organization.
- Preferred: hands-on experience with Pydantic AI, LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, or AutoGen.
- Preferred: experience integrating Anthropic, OpenAI, Vertex AI, and Amazon Bedrock and building evaluation and feedback-loop frameworks for agentic systems.
- Preferred: familiarity with sandboxed code execution, agent harness development, LLM observability, monitoring, and AI infrastructure cost governance.
- Preferred: scientific-domain experience in biology, chemistry, or complex systems.
