Responsibilities
- Build and maintain features for Firstbase applications, including product catalogs, orders, fulfillment, and customer service.
- Develop and deploy REST and GraphQL APIs using Java and Spring.
- Work with PostgreSQL and messaging systems including Kafka and SQS/SNS.
- Contribute to technical feature and user-story design and explain technical trade-offs.
- Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests; participate in code reviews and monitor changes through production.
- Follow up on issues after deployment and share responsibility for software quality with product, engineering, and quality assurance teams.
- Collaborate with warehouse, procurement, fulfillment, and other Firstbase operations teams to turn workflows and constraints into production software.
- Use programming agents for bounded tasks with review while retaining responsibility for design intent, testing strategy, and code quality.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of professional software development experience.
- A degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience or ability to develop REST and GraphQL APIs in Java with Spring.
- Ability to work with PostgreSQL and messaging systems such as Kafka and SQS/SNS.
- Ability to contribute to technical design, testing, code reviews, deployment monitoring, and post-release issue resolution.
- Good knowledge of English is required for collaboration with teams in the United States, India, Argentina, Ontario, and Alberta.
- Humility, positive attitude, willingness to share ideas, and enthusiasm for learning current technologies.
