Base Salary
$171k - $190k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain software for surge pricing and marketplace-health features.
- Build and scale high-throughput, low-latency real-time pricing and forecasting systems.
- Own the software lifecycle from design documentation through production rollout, debugging, and incident management.
- Translate marketplace problems into robust system designs in collaboration with Product, Applied Science, and Operations.
- Write quality code, conduct reviews, create comprehensive tests, and establish monitoring for production stability.
- Manage cross-team dependencies and stakeholder inquiries to keep pricing signals reliable across cities.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience in backend development, distributed systems, or real-time data processing.
- Proficiency in one or more object-oriented or functional programming languages such as Go, Java, or Python.
- Experience designing and operating high-throughput, low-latency services and translating business problems into system designs.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience writing functional tests and establishing production monitoring.
- Preferred: experience with marketplace, pricing, dispatch, forecasting, or other real-time decision systems.
- Preferred: familiarity with real-time data streaming such as Kafka or Flink, or time-series forecasting pipelines.
- Preferred: experience reducing technical debt in high-load distributed systems.
- Preferred: sound judgment regarding engineering trade-offs and contributions to engineering culture through reviews, documentation, or mentoring.
