Responsibilities
- Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of scalable APIs, services, and accessibility-first user interfaces.
- Modernize legacy systems into modular, event-driven, API-first components and deliver AI-native features across the stack.
- Provide technical direction and make architectural trade-offs related to scalability, maintainability, performance, and product impact.
- Own application reliability and operational excellence, including telemetry, SLOs, error budgets, on-call rotations, incident response, and continuous service improvement.
- Champion application-level DevOps practices, including deployment automation, monitoring, and operations, while collaborating with Platform Engineers.
- Mentor engineers, promote engineering best practices, and contribute to technical standards and team development.
- Own code quality, documentation, automated testing, performance, security, maintainability, and production readiness.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Design, AI, Platform Engineering, and other engineering teams to solve customer problems and deliver product outcomes.
- Identify technical risks, performance bottlenecks, and opportunities to improve platform architecture and engineering practices.
Requirements
- Strong full stack software engineering experience across front-end and back-end development.
- Strong experience with React or similar modern front-end frameworks.
- Strong back-end engineering experience, ideally with Go or comparable general-purpose programming languages.
- Experience designing and building scalable APIs, services, and cloud-native applications.
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices, including deployment, monitoring, automation, and incident response.
- Experience delivering secure, observable, high-quality production software.
- Strong focus on code quality, automated testing, documentation, performance, and maintainability.
- Ability to lead technical design discussions and influence architectural decisions.
- Effective collaboration and communication across Product, Design, Platform, and Engineering teams.
- Ability to take ownership of outcomes from design through production.
- Cloud platform experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP is desirable.
- Experience with event-driven architectures, distributed systems, microservices, legacy-system modernization, cross-functional product teams, mentoring, observability, reliability engineering, SLOs, error budgets, or production incident management is desirable.
- Experience with AI-enabled, data-intensive, sustainability, carbon intelligence, or enterprise SaaS products is desirable.
