Responsibilities

  • Monitor the technical health of multiple concurrent live-service and co-development projects and address risks and bottlenecks.
  • Define and enforce studio-wide coding standards, architectural patterns, engineering workflows, and Unreal toolchain practices.
  • Lead high-impact R&D initiatives, especially applied AI for game development, from exploration through production integration.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance, mentoring, competency assessment, and development planning for senior programmers and technical contributors.
  • Act as the primary technical counterpart for co-development partner studios on architecture, tooling, style guides, and shared pipelines.
  • Collaborate with Game Design, Art, Production, studio leadership, and partner technical leaders to align technical direction and improve delivery quality.
  • Support strategic resource planning and project allocation across a programming department of approximately 35–40 people.

Requirements

  • Proven hands-on game development expertise across multiple genres and mobile, PC, and console platforms.
  • Deep architectural command of Unreal Engine 5.
  • Experience designing and leading large-scale systems involving 3D rendering, AI gameplay systems, online and network scalability, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in C++ and at least one additional language such as C# or Python.
  • Practical production experience deploying AI and LLM-based tools, including AI coding assistants in active development pipelines.
  • Track record of leading R&D from exploration through production integration and delivering whitepapers, technical specifications, or mature prototypes.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary programming teams, identifying skill gaps, building contributor development plans, and improving department-wide output quality.
  • Ability to communicate technical direction to senior leadership, partner studios, and non-technical collaborators and influence strategic decisions.
  • Professional fluency in English for technical documentation, meetings, and international collaboration.
