Responsibilities
- Set team technical strategy on a year-long time scale and connect it to business-impacting projects.
- Drive architectural decisions and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Own team operations and availability through monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, alerting, and on-call practices.
- Set code review and design standards and promote quality and ownership through writing and technical talks.
- Mentor and develop engineers through feedback, guidance, and technical leadership.
- Build polished, performant, and accessible experiences across mobile, web, and backend systems that support conversion, retention, and growth.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience as a software engineer.
- Proficiency designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using technologies such as Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency developing web applications with declarative UI frameworks such as React, React Native, or Vue.
- Experience delivering major features or system components, or deprecating existing functionality, through defined technical and execution plans.
- Ability to understand systems from low-level language idioms through large-scale architecture.
- Demonstrated growth through gathering and iterating on feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
- Willingness to participate in a required on-call rotation.
