Responsibilities
- Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long time horizon and connect it to business-impacting projects.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes as a force multiplier for the team.
- Own team operations and availability through monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, alerting, and on-call practices.
- Set code review and design standards and promote engineering quality through writing and technical talks.
- Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and technical leadership.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
- Experience using Python or Kotlin and developing highly available distributed systems with technologies such as AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.
- Experience developing consumer experiences using UI frameworks such as React.
- 2+ years of experience working in search or related recommendation engines.
- Experience delivering major features or system components, or deprecating existing functionality, through technical and execution planning.
- Strong coding, systems architecture, communication, collaboration, and feedback-iteration skills.
