Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate full-stack features spanning the React editing experience, backend content and rendering services, and AI-powered capabilities.
- Set technical direction for the structure, validation, versioning, and safe migration of customer email content.
- Ensure customer designs render correctly as HTML across Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, and other email clients while meeting performance and accessibility standards.
- Design interfaces between AI-driven edits and customer content and maintain quality standards for AI-generated changes.
- Lead incremental modernization of legacy technologies and safely migrate customers and saved content.
- Instrument, monitor, debug, and support production services, including participation in on-call and incident response.
- Build systems for scale, accessibility, and compliance with standards and regulations including WCAG, GDPR, and CAN-SPAM.
- Mentor engineers, lead workstreams, write design documents, improve code review quality, and collaborate with design, product management, and partner teams.
- Promote responsible AI-assisted development practices and trustworthy, reviewable generated code.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software development experience or equivalent demonstrated ability, including several years building and shipping production web applications at scale.
- Hands-on experience building LLM-powered product features, including agent frameworks, AI tools, prompt design, or evaluation pipelines.
- Deep expertise in TypeScript/JavaScript and React, including complex state-heavy user interfaces such as editors, canvases, or design tools.
- Strong server-side engineering experience with at least one of Node.js, PHP, or Python, along with willingness to work across multiple server-side technologies.
- Experience designing, operating, and debugging production APIs and services, including instrumentation, monitoring, and incident response.
- Staff-level technical leadership experience driving initiatives across multiple engineers or teams, solving ambiguous problems, and mentoring others.
- Strong unit, integration, and end-to-end testing practices for large, long-lived codebases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication for distributed, documentation-oriented collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience includes HTML email rendering, email client constraints, deliverability, editors or document tooling, legacy modernization, large-scale data and infrastructure, web accessibility, and email or privacy regulations.
