Base Salary

$168k - $285k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Build and evolve backend services that detect and prevent fraud across account access, money movement, and other surfaces
  • Develop enforcement and response tooling for identity locks, business locks, payment freezes, and other containment actions
  • Improve account-takeover protections through risk-based step-ups, monitoring, targeted friction controls, and MFA surge detection and alerting
  • Design and operate observable systems with metrics, dashboards, alerting, and incident and fraud-campaign playbooks
  • Strengthen authentication and identity foundations, including roles, permissions, identity state, and related platform primitives
  • Own technical design, implementation, rollout strategy, and iteration based on outcome metrics
  • Partner with Fraud Ops, Risk Strategy, Security, Product, and Data

Requirements

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience or equivalent
  • Strong backend engineering fundamentals, including APIs, distributed systems, data modeling, and reliability
  • Experience building data-informed detection or decisioning systems, or strong interest in learning the domain
  • Production systems experience, including debugging, incident response, instrumentation, and on-call improvements
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills and comfort working with product and operations partners
  • Preferred: experience in fraud, risk, identity, authentication, authorization, abuse prevention, or security engineering
  • Preferred: familiarity with payments rails, card transaction risk, or account security patterns
  • Preferred: experience building internal operations tools such as case management, investigation, or enforcement workflows
