Responsibilities
- Build the next-generation dbt Fusion analytics engine and state-aware execution engine.
- Design and develop query engines, storage systems, distributed database systems, scalable services, APIs, and related user experiences.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Operations, and Security on well-architected compute solutions.
- Address ambiguous technical challenges while balancing technical constraints, user needs, and product goals.
- Drive testing, observability, high availability, performance, and system reliability best practices.
- Influence engineering direction and technical excellence across multiple teams or domains.
Requirements
- 10+ years of coding experience in at least one of Rust, Python, Go, or Java.
- Familiarity with AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
- Experience participating in complex projects and collaborating across functions.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, ownership, self-direction, and curiosity.
- Interest in systems, data infrastructure, compilers, or analytical tooling, including through academic experience.
- Experience with substantial projects such as coursework, internships, research, open source, or personal projects.
- Willingness to work across the stack and learn technologies as needed.
- Preferred experience contributing to Apache Arrow, DuckDB, MongoDB Runtime, or other analytical database systems.
- Preferred expertise in database systems, query engines, or storage systems.
- Preferred experience with performance optimization, observability, or large-scale query engines.
