Base Salary
$190k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect, prototype, maintain, and optimize scalable distributed indexing pipelines for web-scale data.
- Research and apply NLP, ranking, and machine learning methods to improve index quality, freshness, and retrieval performance.
- Collaborate with data engineers, ML engineers, and product teams to integrate features and user signals into search systems.
- Profile and optimize indexing workflows for low latency and high throughput.
- Define success metrics, run experiments, benchmark systems, and analyze results.
- Monitor current research in information retrieval, large language models, and distributed systems and apply relevant ideas to the search stack.
Requirements
- Proven experience in search indexing, information retrieval, or large-scale data systems.
- Strong programming skills in Rust or C++ and Python.
- Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and distributed systems.
- Experience with experimental design, prototyping, and translating research into production.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
