Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on architectural leadership for Workday’s observability platform and services.
- Drive observability agents and MCP-based experiences for incident detection, triage, root-cause analysis, and recovery.
- Ensure observability across logs, metrics, traces, alerts, and virtualized, Kubernetes, and bare-metal infrastructure.
- Standardize observability tooling, publish engineering standards, and leverage open-source specifications such as OpenTelemetry.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, technology operations, product, and engineering teams.
- Evangelize observability, establish standard processes and frameworks, and help engineering teams onboard to the platform.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related technical field.
- At least 10 years of software engineering or architecture experience with a record of delivering high-quality products at massive scale.
- At least 10 years of experience writing production-quality code in Java, Scala, Go, or Python and designing systems that meet business needs.
- Hands-on expertise with observability platforms such as Prometheus, Mimir, Elasticsearch, ClickHouse, VictoriaMetrics, and Jaeger or Zipkin.
- Extensive experience with data collection agents, loggers, and visualization and correlation of data across multiple domains.
- Expertise in LLM orchestration, observability for AI agents, and building agents for triage and root-cause analysis using open standards and orchestration frameworks such as LangChain.
- Experience deploying observability across the OSI stack.
- Low-latency and high-throughput data processing experience and open-source contributions to observability frameworks are preferred.
- Strong presentation, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
