Responsibilities
- Define and own the architecture vision, roadmap, standards, governance, and technology strategy for a multi-product Microsoft Azure platform.
- Architect scalable, resilient, secure, observable, multi-region distributed systems supporting high transaction volumes and connected IoT devices.
- Lead architecture for event-driven microservices using API-first design, domain-driven design, CQRS, asynchronous messaging, and related cloud-native patterns.
- Design platform architectures for web applications, mobile applications, APIs, IoT ecosystems, data platforms, and AI-enabled capabilities.
- Define reference architectures, guardrails, reusable frameworks, engineering standards, API governance, data governance, and interoperability standards.
- Lead modernization, cloud adoption, legacy migration, DevSecOps, infrastructure-as-code, GitOps, CI/CD, and platform engineering initiatives.
- Review solution architectures and provide governance through architecture reviews and design authorities.
- Establish security, observability, resiliency, disaster recovery, performance, cost optimization, and operational excellence practices.
- Partner with product, engineering, operations, security, and executive leadership to align technical strategy with business objectives.
- Mentor senior engineers, architects, and technical leaders and promote architectural excellence across the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, information systems, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
- 15+ years of software engineering experience, including significant enterprise and cloud architecture experience.
- 6+ years designing and architecting cloud-native platforms on Microsoft Azure.
- Experience architecting and delivering large-scale SaaS products and complex distributed systems spanning microservices, web, mobile, IoT, data platforms, and event-driven integrations.
- Extensive experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, GraphQL, distributed messaging, and event-driven architectures.
- Deep expertise in microservices, service mesh, event sourcing, CQRS, domain-driven design, containerization, Kubernetes, and cloud-native design patterns.
- Strong experience with Azure services including AKS, API Management, Event Hub, Service Bus, IoT Hub, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, Functions, storage, Redis, monitoring, and security services.
- Experience with highly available globally distributed systems, enterprise architecture governance, technology roadmaps, and architecture leadership across multiple product teams.
- Expertise in API, integration, data, security, and platform architecture; observability; identity and access management; Zero Trust; OAuth 2.0; OpenID Connect; resiliency; disaster recovery; performance; capacity; and cost optimization.
- Knowledge of AI/ML architecture, AI agents, intelligent automation, data privacy, compliance, and regulated software development is desirable; healthcare, regulated-environment, or enterprise SaaS experience is preferred.
- Strong executive communication, strategic thinking, cross-functional influence, mentoring, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel approximately 10% and maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
