Responsibilities
- Design and own APIs using REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and webhooks across suitable languages, cloud services, and iPaaS platforms.
- Build secure, scalable, high-performance backend and full-stack services for AI use cases, including LLM tools, AI agents, RAG, and agentic workflows.
- Define API governance covering versioning, documentation, authentication, error handling, observability, and reusable frameworks.
- Establish non-functional requirements and service-level agreements for availability, latency, throughput, reliability, AI cost, rate limiting, and safety.
- Lead technical discovery, architecture and code reviews, mentoring, and stakeholder discussions for API, integration, and AI-enablement initiatives.
- Drive reuse through shared APIs, connectors, SDKs, and an integration catalog.
- Partner with security and compliance teams on regulatory, auditability, and change-control requirements.
- Evaluate event-driven integration, AI-agent frameworks, and low-code automation patterns for the platform roadmap.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years of API, full-stack, or backend development across multiple languages and clouds.
- 2+ years in a senior, lead, or architect capacity owning API and platform designs for complex enterprise-scale systems.
- 1+ year of experience in an FDE role working directly with internal customers.
- Deep API expertise, including REST, contract-first design, OpenAPI/Swagger, robust error handling, API gateways, and API testing with Postman.
- Strong backend and full-stack experience with Node.js, Java, Python, or Go, plus cloud and iPaaS platforms such as MuleSoft, Workato, and Boomi.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; serverless development; Kubernetes; and infrastructure as code.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL database design, JSON, XML, CSV, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, mTLS, secrets management, Git-based workflows, and CI/CD.
- Experience integrating SaaS platforms such as NetSuite, Workday, Salesforce, or Snowflake.
- Experience building APIs for AI consumption, including function- or tool-calling interfaces for LLMs and agents.
- Working knowledge of OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, vector databases, AI-specific NFRs, and enterprise API integration.
- Practical experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code.
- Working knowledge of DevOps practices and toolchains, networking fundamentals, and VPN/VPC concepts.
- Preferred qualifications include cloud or iPaaS certifications, regulated-environment experience such as SOX or FedRAMP, familiarity with Kafka, EventBridge, or Event Hubs, and production experience with AI agents, copilots, or LLM-powered features.
- Ability to lead without authority and communicate solutions and trade-offs to technical and business stakeholders.
