Responsibilities
- Identify architecture improvements and prepare proposals for implementation.
- Lead and plan the development of scalable code, prototypes, minimum viable products, and proofs of concept.
- Own complex, long-term projects by defining scope and requirements, communicating progress, and ensuring timely delivery.
- Collaborate with development teams on features spanning multiple products.
- Conduct testing and code reviews to maximize code quality and adherence to best practices.
- Provide project leadership, technical guidance, and subject-matter expertise across the department and organization.
- Contribute to strategic direction, roadmap planning, and synthesis of feedback for team success.
- Serve as a cross-functional technical resource and point of contact for customers, product managers, partners, and internal teams.
- Mentor developers and help guide team direction, execution choices, and technical trade-offs.
- Document system design and architecture for maintainability and extensibility.
- Write complex, scalable, high-quality, and secure software.
- Present technical discussions and training and advise senior leadership on emerging technologies and development practices.
- Participate in a rotating 24x7 on-call schedule if applicable.
Requirements
- 10–12 years of experience as a software developer using object-oriented programming to build scalable applications.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree specializing in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent working experience.
- Technical expertise in software design, architecture, and database optimization, including hands-on experience with MySQL, Python, Google Compute Engine, and Google BigQuery.
- Strong experience with SQL Server and Postgres database design, optimization, and query writing.
- Deep frontend knowledge of HTML/CSS, JavaScript, XML, ES6, jQuery, Angular, React, Node.js, Vue.js, and UI/UX design.
- Proficiency with Git or other distributed source control tools, including branch management and merge conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring and developing employees, including mentoring interns over several years.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and research open-ended design problems.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage fast-changing priorities.
