Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable advertising and commerce features for eBay sellers and advertisers.
  • Develop highly available web applications, APIs, backend services, and data platforms using React, Node.js, Java, and Scala.
  • Own complex features end to end from technical design and architecture through deployment and production support.
  • Lead technical decisions, system design, architecture reviews, and cross-functional engineering initiatives.
  • Partner with ML and AI teams on recommendations, automation, and AI-driven campaign management.
  • Use AI-powered development tools to improve engineering productivity, code quality, testing, and deployment efficiency.
  • Mentor team members and help shape engineering practices across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field with 10+ years of experience, or a master's degree with 7+ years of experience.
  • Strong experience building modern web applications with React or similar frameworks, HTML/CSS, and responsive design.
  • Proficiency in Node.js, Java 17 or later, and Spring Boot.
  • Experience designing scalable APIs, distributed systems, and high-traffic applications.
  • Strong knowledge of Kafka, RabbitMQ, relational and NoSQL databases, and data modeling.
  • Proven system design expertise involving scalability, reliability, performance trade-offs, architecture reviews, and technical leadership.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern development tools.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools and AI-driven automation workflows.
