Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve public API contracts and backend services for external developers.
- Write production-quality Python and maintain Apigee proxy configurations, shared flows, and gateway policies.
- Build and operate containerized distributed services on Google Cloud Platform.
- Manage edge caching and traffic routing through Fastly.
- Monitor system health with New Relic and diagnose and resolve platform issues.
- Drive PostgreSQL performance, query optimization, and scalability initiatives.
- Mentor engineers, review and approve code, and provide guidance on quality and technical direction.
- Estimate task complexity and delivery timelines, research emerging technologies, and partner with external developers to improve developer experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science is required, along with a High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 7 years of related work experience is required.
- Experience owning technical designs and articulating software design tradeoffs.
- Production Python experience and backend API development experience.
- Experience with JavaScript, particularly for Apigee gateway scripting, is a plus.
- Strong communication, organization, initiative, independent decision-making, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
