Responsibilities
- Design and build Golang backend services integrating with payment processors, gateways, and card networks.
- Own authorization, capture, settlement, refunds, reconciliation, and chargeback or dispute workflows end to end.
- Build idempotent, fault-tolerant, auditable transaction processing using distributed architecture and queuing patterns.
- Operate within PCI DSS scope, including tokenization, network tokens, secure payment-data handling, and applicable 3DS/SCA flows.
- Instrument and monitor authorization rates, decline rates, processor performance, latency, and settlement accuracy.
- Use Claude or equivalent LLM tools for design, coding, research, testing, and documentation while following security and data-handling policies.
- Mentor engineers, unblock peers, raise engineering standards, and occasionally lead small project teams.
- Collaborate with Product, Risk, Compliance, Support, and other engineering teams.
Requirements
- 7+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience, including meaningful experience with payments, fintech, or money-movement systems.
- Strong Go experience preferred, or comparable Python experience, building and serving APIs.
- Hands-on experience integrating with payment processors, gateways, or acquiring systems.
- Knowledge of authorization, settlement, tokenization, idempotency, reconciliation, and chargebacks or disputes.
- Experience with distributed cloud architectures, transactional outboxes, and queuing tools such as Kafka, SQS, or RabbitMQ.
- Demonstrated hands-on use of Claude or an equivalent LLM to improve productivity, research, communication, and engineering output.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with SQL-based relational database management systems through an ORM.
- Experience with observability platforms such as Prometheus, New Relic, or Datadog.
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, containerized microservices, Kubernetes, and AWS.
- Experience delivering commercial APIs and web applications.
- Experience shipping products and prioritizing improvements based on stakeholder or customer feedback.
- Preferred payments acquiring experience with Adyen, Stripe, Marqeta, Fiserv, or similar providers.
- Preferred exposure to PCI DSS, 3DS/SCA, network tokenization, or payments compliance.
