Responsibilities
- Own the technical direction and evolution of the enterprise Design System.
- Design, develop, and maintain reusable, accessible UI components and front-end frameworks.
- Define front-end architecture, component APIs, design tokens, theming, and engineering best practices.
- Govern component lifecycle, versioning, release strategy, and backward compatibility.
- Drive Design System adoption through technical guidance, documentation, code reviews, and developer enablement.
- Ensure components comply with WCAG standards and accessibility best practices.
- Lead technical discussions, architecture reviews, and engineering decisions across front-end initiatives.
- Mentor engineers and promote engineering excellence through technical coaching and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, UX, and Architecture stakeholders on technical direction and scalable solutions.
- Identify and manage risks and issues while supporting timely delivery and required quality standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience delivering large-scale enterprise front-end applications.
- Demonstrated success driving Design System adoption across multiple teams and applications.
- Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript ES6+, and TypeScript.
- Extensive experience with StencilJS, Web Components, Custom Elements, Shadow DOM, and component composition.
- Experience building and managing enterprise Design Systems or reusable component libraries.
- Strong understanding of design tokens, theming, semantic HTML, and WAI-ARIA.
- Expert knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards and accessibility-first development.
- Hands-on experience validating accessibility with NVDA, JAWS, or VoiceOver and tools such as axe-core.
- Experience with internationalization and localization.
- Experience developing automated tests using Playwright or an equivalent tool with accessibility integration.
- Experience with Micro Front-End architecture and Module Federation.
- Experience collaborating with UX teams using Figma.
- Familiarity with monorepo and build tooling such as Nx, pnpm, or Turborepo.
- Strong communication, presentation, stakeholder engagement, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience leading technical discussions, architecture reviews, code reviews, and engineering decisions.
- Experience working in Agile software development environments.
- Desirable experience leading front-end engineering initiatives or Design System teams.
- Desirable experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and application lifecycle management.
- Desirable knowledge of Microsoft Azure and cloud-native deployment environments.
- Open-source contributions to Design Systems, Web Component libraries, or accessibility initiatives are desirable.
