Responsibilities
- Lead the effort to make Ubuntu suitable for mission-critical and regulated environments
- Bridge Canonical’s open source engineering processes with regulated platform compliance and certification requirements
- Define and implement continuous improvement processes with engineering leadership
- Establish qualification requirements supporting engineering quality standards
- Develop and improve controls alongside existing development lifecycle processes
- Influence engineering culture, ways of working, delivery quality, security, and developer experience
- Build strategic relationships with external working groups, committees, and partners
- Work with company-wide engineering leadership to define and execute the engineering excellence vision
Requirements
- Strong experience in engineering and process management in an agile environment
- Track record of developing and growing people and teams
- Successful experience leading compliance and certification efforts and managing related stakeholders
- Knowledge of or certification in standards such as ISO/IEC 9001, ISO/IEC 25010, and ISO/IEC 15504/SPICE
- Experience working on successful open source projects with demonstrated engineering processes
- Background as a software developer is an additional skill
- Experience establishing product engineering development metrics and KPIs is an additional skill
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
