Responsibilities
- Extract existing functionality from the monolith into standalone services using Ruby.
- Develop business logic and APIs for mobile and web platforms and help scale backend systems.
- Add tests, implement feature flags, and set up A/B tests for new features.
- Participate in on-call rotations, perform root-cause analysis, and contribute to post-mortems.
- Monitor deployed code using Kibana, Grafana, and Datadog.
- Own SLIs and SLOs within the product team to maintain quality and reliability.
- Drive complex initiatives end-to-end and address architectural bottlenecks and process inefficiencies.
- Collaborate across teams on roadmaps, code reviews, and delivery priorities.
- Mentor colleagues and provide and receive constructive feedback.
Requirements
- Solid backend engineering experience with a track record of owning complex projects end-to-end.
- Experience with Ruby is preferred, but candidates must be willing to learn and write idiomatic Ruby code.
- Knowledge of distributed systems, systems architecture, service-oriented architecture, enterprise architecture patterns, and services and their trade-offs.
- Ability to identify technical debt or bottlenecks, champion solutions, and lead improvements.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills in English, including the ability to explain complex topics to business and engineering stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, take ownership, and lead without explicit direction.
- Ability to engage in constructive conflict while maintaining professionalism and respect.
