Responsibilities
- Design and implement Java services and advanced web applications for ShipMonk’s fulfillment platform.
- Build data integrations that connect new Java services with the existing PHP modular monolith.
- Develop and maintain backend APIs serving web clients, warehouse devices, robots, and automated fulfillment equipment.
- Design systems that handle concurrency, race conditions, high availability, failover, and autoscaling.
- Optimize SQL queries and database integrations for a multi-terabyte database.
- Participate in code reviews, static analysis, integration testing, end-to-end testing, and frequent deployments.
- Collaborate with backend, warehouse, frontend, data, QA, DevOps, infrastructure, and product teams.
Requirements
- Experienced Java development background with the ability to design and implement advanced web applications.
- Experience with REST web applications and data integrations.
- Ability to work with Java, the Spring ecosystem, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS EKS.
- Strong focus on code quality, concurrency, SQL optimization, testing, observability, and maintainable architecture.
- Ability to work effectively in a monorepo and collaborate across multiple technical teams.
