Responsibilities
- Own mission-critical SaaS platform and public API systems end to end, including design, implementation, and operation.
- Set technical direction and lead architecture across services and teams.
- Break ambiguous problems into executable scope, review designs, and maintain the quality bar for shipped work without line management.
- Solve large-scale domain problems involving parts, vehicle configurations, markets, languages, and fitment relationships.
- Build the platform supporting the Interpreter frontier model, addressing latency, cost, evaluation, and correctness.
- Perform deep backend and data work while contributing across the full stack when product problems require it.
- Raise engineering standards through design reviews, mentoring, pragmatic standards, and exemplary code.
Requirements
- Typically 6+ years building and operating complex production systems, with several years at a level of influence beyond individual code contributions.
- Experience owning important systems across team boundaries and being accountable for outcomes.
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, concurrency, distributed systems, architecture, API design, testing, and technical judgment.
- Strong data-modeling experience with relational and NoSQL systems.
- Experience building reliable, fault-tolerant distributed systems and scaling systems from startup-grade to dependable production platforms.
- Excellent written communication, particularly for design documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to deliberately improve the engineers around you.
- Bonus experience with Rust, automotive, parts, logistics, supply chain, or production ML/AI systems.
