Responsibilities
- Engage with stakeholders to translate ambiguous business problems into technical solutions.
- Design data-driven solutions using machine learning, optimization, and custom approaches where appropriate.
- Collaborate with technical partners to implement robust real-time and batch decisioning systems in production.
- Build and maintain data pipelines, distributed systems, and infrastructure supporting fulfillment operations.
- Write clean, testable, and maintainable code while establishing practices for code quality and system reliability.
- Create reporting and monitor decisioning quality, operational metrics, and business health.
- Communicate technical work and complex concepts to stakeholders with varying technical backgrounds.
- Share knowledge about emerging technologies and methods to improve the team’s technical capabilities.
Requirements
- Graduate degree with research or work experience using data science techniques, or a bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years of practical experience building and deploying programmatic solutions through work, independent projects, or academic research.
- Practical experience implementing data science applications in Python or a similar programming language.
- Theoretical understanding of machine learning algorithms and their relative strengths and weaknesses.
- Ability to use a querying language such as SQL to extract insights from data.
- Experience with version control systems and modern development workflows.
- Team-oriented collaboration skills and strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, communication, self-motivation, and learning abilities.
- Preferred qualifications include a PhD, 4+ years of experience building solutions at scale, fulfillment or supply chain experience, operations research or mathematical optimization experience, strong computer science fundamentals, machine learning implementation experience, and experience with AI-assisted coding tools.
