Base Salary

$108k - $124k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, test, and maintain computational workflows, data analysis methods, and production pipelines for cancer research.
  • Assess research computing needs and implement HPC, cloud, containerized, scalable, reproducible, and compliant solutions.
  • Contribute to study design, prototype implementations, technical reports, manuscripts, grant proposals, and collaborative research projects.
  • Design and deliver training programs and workshops on high-performance and cloud computing for researchers and academic programs.
  • Support single-cell, liquid biopsy, imaging, multi-omics, clinical data analysis, cancer modeling, trajectory forecasting, and precision oncology initiatives.
  • Optimize applications and computational infrastructure, document systems, and explain technical concepts to interdisciplinary audiences.
  • Collaborate with engineers, computational scientists, biologists, clinicians, and IT professionals.
  • Maintain technical standards, improve processes, and identify new computational applications for scientific research.
  • May supervise junior staff and mentor trainees.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, with combined experience and education accepted as a substitute.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience providing strong technical knowledge in programming and analysis, including senior or lead experience; 5 years is preferred.
  • Strong software development skills in Python, C++/C, R, Java, or comparable languages.
  • Experience with large, complex biological or clinical datasets and familiarity with data science and machine learning frameworks.
  • Knowledge of advanced computational methods including contrastive deep learning, clustering, decision-tree learning, artificial neural networks, and statistical techniques.
  • Experience with SQL or MDX and relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Advanced Linux/Unix expertise and experience building, deploying, and maintaining open-source software in HPC environments.
  • Experience with HPC, high-performance networking, cloud computing, container technologies, workflow management, version control, application performance optimization, GPUs, and large-scale storage systems.
  • Experience with parallel and accelerated computing frameworks such as OpenMP and MPI.
  • Knowledge of research processes, proposal development, data lifecycle management, reproducible workflows, and federal and sponsor compliance regulations.
  • Strong communication, documentation, project management, interpersonal, creative problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to translate scientific research needs into computational and analytical solutions and to provide training or workshops.
