Responsibilities
- Own the design and delivery of significant features across scalable, multi-tiered applications and services.
- Drive projects through requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production operation.
- Write high-quality, well-tested production code and conduct thorough code reviews.
- Design for scale and resilience using approaches such as backpressure, circuit breakers, retries, caching, and graceful degradation.
- Monitor production health, respond to alarms, investigate root causes, improve observability, and maintain runbooks.
- Participate in system design reviews and communicate technical trade-offs.
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
- Translate complex time, attendance, scheduling, compliance, and payroll requirements into technical designs.
- Reduce technical debt, improve code quality, optimize performance, and refactor systems for future growth.
- Participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and on-call rotations.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- At least 2 years of non-internship design or architecture experience involving design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- At least 1 year of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
- At least 1 year designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded, or distributed software using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
- At least 1 year of Object Oriented Design experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
- Preferred: 3+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Preferred: bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
