Base Salary
$265k - $331k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and technical direction of Headway’s Journeys communications platform.
- Design and evolve the decision engine, experimentation layer, channel orchestration, and unified message ledger.
- Build high-throughput, event-driven communications systems serving millions of events per month across email, SMS, push, and other channels.
- Guide multi-vendor platform architecture and build-versus-buy decisions.
- Bring LLM-powered personalization from concept to production while addressing reliability, latency, and quality.
- Collaborate with marketing, CX, product, patient operations, and engineering teams.
- Shape technical direction across teams without direct authority and increase team capability through technical leadership.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful Staff-level or equivalent experience.
- Experience designing and building high-volume, event-driven communications platforms at millions of events per month.
- Fluency with multi-vendor delivery stacks and platform-layer build-versus-buy trade-offs.
- Experience building or partnering closely with experimentation infrastructure, A/B testing, engagement analytics, personalization, or recommendation systems.
- Exposure to LLM-powered systems in production, including reliability, latency, and quality considerations at scale.
- Ability to work through ambiguity, think systemically, communicate technical trade-offs, and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience driving technical direction across teams without direct authority.
