Responsibilities
- Own the technology architecture, roadmap, build-versus-buy decisions, reliability, and security.
- Take the tested MVP to a production-grade product used daily by field technicians.
- Build AI workflows and repeatable integrations with customer work-order and asset-data systems.
- Improve the machine-learning core through retrieval/RAG, multimodal photo and voice inputs, diagnostic reasoning, and model evaluation.
- Design the learning engine for capturing, reviewing, evaluating, and reusing confirmed field outcomes.
- Establish evaluation, safety, monitoring, grounding, escalation, and regression-testing processes.
- Build a state-of-the-art UX/UI for technicians and incorporate field feedback into rapid product improvements.
- Recruit and lead the engineering team as the company scales.
- Shape company strategy, culture, and investor conversations as a co-founder.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning/AI, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Ideally 3+ years of experience applying machine learning in production products, including areas such as LLMs, retrieval/RAG, NLP, computer vision, or model evaluation.
- Experience leading the technical build of a product from zero to one, such as as a tech lead or founding engineer.
- Strong hands-on software engineering experience across backend, APIs, data pipelines, and cloud.
- Ability to evaluate the limitations of LLMs, test them effectively, and determine when not to use them.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, full ownership, bias for action, and comfort with ambiguity.
- Product empathy and interest in learning from field users to simplify complex work.
- Fluent German and English.
- PhD in Machine Learning, NLP, Computer Vision, Information Retrieval, or a related field is a nice-to-have.
- Previous founder or early-stage startup experience is a nice-to-have.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure and enterprise B2B requirements, including security, GDPR, and multi-tenant SaaS, is a nice-to-have.
- Experience in field service, industrial, maintenance, or proptech software is a nice-to-have.
- Experience with multimodal AI, voice interfaces, decision-support systems, or hiring and leading engineering teams is a nice-to-have.
