Base Salary

$135k - $202k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain bare-metal firmware and low-level device drivers for reference-platform bring-up and validation.
  • Perform early hardware bring-up and debug new boards and chipsets across hardware, firmware, and system boundaries.
  • Implement and extend firmware for platform validation, manufacturing testing, and factory enablement.
  • Collaborate with hardware, silicon, systems, and validation teams to define requirements and resolve integration issues.
  • Analyze failures using schematics, register traces, logic analyzer data, and laboratory instrumentation.
  • Adapt software across multiple platforms, hardware variants, configurations, and use cases.
  • Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and low-level embedded software development practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on embedded software, debugging, and platform bring-up.
  • Participate in cross-site and cross-functional reviews and communicate technical status clearly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field plus 4+ years of software engineering or related experience; alternatively, a master's degree plus 3+ years or a PhD plus 2+ years.
  • At least 2 years of experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
  • Strong expertise in device drivers, bare-metal software, register-level programming, GPIO configuration, and hardware bring-up.
  • Experience with SoC peripherals including RAM, UFS, NVMe, displays, camera subsystems, audio codecs, and environmental or motion sensors.
  • Working knowledge of SPI, USB, I2C/I3C, PCIe, UART, UFS, MIPI CSI/DSI, and CAN interfaces and protocols.
  • Proficiency with Lauterbach Trace32 and JTAG-based debuggers.
  • Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and bench power supplies.
  • Understanding of ARM and/or RISC-V processor architectures.
  • Experience with revision-control systems such as Perforce.
  • Ability to interpret datasheets, hardware design documents, schematics, and CCA drawings.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills and ability to collaborate with international teams.
  • Preferred: 8+ years of embedded systems, device-driver, or firmware development; 8+ years using engineering lab tools; and 8+ years of programming with C, C++, Python, Assembly, or similar languages.
