Base Salary
$185k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop low-level software configuring and driving processor peripherals and communication interfaces on spacecraft avionics.
- Write and debug device drivers for sensors, actuators, and spacecraft bus components.
- Implement onboard algorithms, including closed-loop control and fault detection and response for failed sensors and radiation upsets.
- Develop both iterative bench-test code and rigorous, reviewed, tested software for manufacturing and flight.
- Provide embedded software input for new system and hardware designs.
- Support spacecraft commissioning during launch and early operations.
Requirements
- U.S. Person status or the ability to obtain required export authorizations is required for access to export-controlled data.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or electrical engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 3 years of experience writing C/C++ for embedded systems, ideally involving spacecraft, robotics, automotive, or other hardware interacting with the physical world.
- Experience developing microcontroller firmware in bare-metal or RTOS environments.
- Experience writing and debugging low-level device drivers over SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, and CAN.
- Experience with hardware/software integration, including reading schematics and using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers for hardware bring-up.
- Understanding of microcontroller and microprocessor architecture, including memory, buses, and DMA.
- Preferred qualifications include FPGA development, new avionics or flight-hardware bring-up, satellite attitude control systems, motors and power electronics, feedback sensors, and CCSDS or ECSS familiarity.
