Responsibilities
- Own discrete features and bug fixes from specification through production, including design, implementation, testing, and documentation.
- Write maintainable, testable C# and .NET code using dependency injection, abstractions, and separation of concerns.
- Develop efficient SQL queries, manage transactions safely, and optimize performance using execution plans and diagnostics.
- Design reliable unit and integration tests and participate in test maintenance and refactoring.
- Review peer code for correctness, testability, security, and performance.
- Investigate production performance issues involving stored procedures and queries.
- Participate in database schema design and write safe, rerunnable migration scripts.
- Mentor Associate Engineers through onboarding, pair programming, and knowledge sharing.
- Propose improvements to team processes, tooling, and codebase consistency.
Requirements
- Advanced proficiency with C# and .NET, including async/await, Task-based APIs, dependency injection, interface-driven design, LINQ, collections, exception handling, logging, and graceful degradation.
- Ability to write complex SQL using common table expressions, window functions, advanced joins, transactions, isolation levels, parameterization, and safe migration scripts.
- Strong understanding of transaction design, atomic operations, rollback, database constraints, and verification of row counts and state.
- Ability to write isolated, repeatable unit tests and familiarity with test fixtures, mocks, fakes, and test-first workflows.
- Proficiency with debuggers, profilers, logs, and execution plans, plus a systematic approach to production issue investigation.
- Ability to independently deliver work, communicate design trade-offs, collaborate in code reviews and pair programming, and take ownership of quality and performance.
- Preferred experience includes enterprise ERP or financial systems, complex multi-tenant applications, production performance tuning, event-driven or message-based architectures, reporting or analytics, database scaling, replication, backup/recovery, open-source contributions, mentoring, secure coding, and threat modeling.
