Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable systems across the data lifecycle, including ingestion, processing, modeling, and serving.
- Build and maintain batch and streaming data pipelines using modern data technologies.
- Develop reusable datasets, data models, data-processing frameworks, and standardized metrics and definitions.
- Contribute to data and service-layer platform components that support experimentation, metric computation, and analysis at scale.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and validation while troubleshooting complex data and system issues.
- Improve system performance, scalability, reliability, developer experience, and cost efficiency.
- Translate ambiguous business and product requirements into scalable technical designs and drive execution end-to-end.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Data Architects, Data Scientists, Product Analysts, Software Engineers, and Data Engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or a related role.
- Strong programming skills in at least one of Python, Java, or Scala, with solid software engineering fundamentals.
- Expertise in SQL and strong understanding of data modeling and data warehousing concepts.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining large-scale data pipelines using technologies such as Google Dataflow, BigQuery, Airflow/Composer, Spark, or Flink.
- Experience designing and building scalable data pipelines and distributed systems.
- Deep understanding of software development lifecycle best practices, including agile methodologies.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

- Position is based in Oakland, with an expected base pay range of $202,500–$274,000.
