Base Salary
$75k - $120k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain C/C++ embedded avionics software for spacecraft systems and single-board computers.
- Perform board bring-up and develop or debug device drivers for SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, LVDS/differential pairs, SpaceWire, and MIL-STD-1553 interfaces.
- Integrate software with custom analog/digital I/O, watchdog timers, processor peripherals, and other hardware systems.
- Derive test requirements, create unit and regression tests, support integration testing, and investigate anomalies using logs, telemetry, and lab equipment.
- Participate in peer, code, design, and formal program reviews and support required technical deliverables.
- Manage software branches, baselines, releases, documentation, and defects using version control, release processes, and Jira.
- Produce user guides, software design documentation, release notes, and other technical documentation.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of professional embedded software development experience; aerospace or defense experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in C/C++ for real-time and embedded systems, with experience developing and debugging with an RTOS.
- Experience with board support packages and device drivers.
- Working knowledge of SPI, I2C, and UART, including protocol-level debugging.
- Experience troubleshooting and performing root-cause analysis across hardware/software interfaces.
- Familiarity with requirements, design, implementation, peer review, unit testing, regression testing, configuration management, and release processes.
- Experience with version control; Git or Perforce is preferred, and experience with Jira or similar issue tracking is expected.
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation and communicate effectively with engineering peers.
- Must be a U.S. person because of export-controlled work.
- Preferred qualifications include VxWorks, Wind River Workbench, spacecraft or avionics SBC bring-up, SpaceWire, MIL-STD-1553, static code analysis, secure coding, Perforce, Bitbucket, formal release and baseline processes, and formal program reviews.
