Software Engineer, Global Banking & Markets, Trading Technology
Goldman SachsResponsibilities
- Design, build, and operate high-availability, multi-region cloud-native services for trading technology.
- Develop event-driven architectures, multi-stage processing pipelines, and optimized data paths for high-throughput trade lifecycle management.
- Architect and implement production-grade AI solutions integrated with Java-based microservices.
- Orchestrate AI coding agents across the software development lifecycle while reviewing and governing their output for production quality.
- Partner with engineers, domain experts, and global stakeholders to modernize business processes and systems.
- Manage software components from requirements analysis through design, development, testing, release, and production support.
- Build reusable capabilities for Global Banking & Markets’ front-, middle-, and back-office functions.
- Implement security, observability, metrics, distributed tracing, and structured logging throughout services.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of professional software development experience in Java, with strong knowledge of concurrency, collections, and modern language features.
- Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot Agent Mode, Devin, or Gemini Code Assist, including governing agents and evaluating generated code.
- Experience building event-driven and distributed systems and working with messaging platforms such as Apache Kafka.
- Strong software development lifecycle practices, including version control, automated build, test, and deployment workflows, and code quality tooling.
- Experience with unit, integration, and acceptance testing using modern frameworks.
- Ability to navigate, understand, and debug large unfamiliar codebases.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical audiences in distributed teams.
- Preferred experience with Java 17+, Spring Boot, gRPC, Protocol Buffers, Apache Camel, Spring Integration, GCP, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, observability, SQL or NoSQL databases, caching, performance optimization, enterprise security, financial services, Vert.x, or Netty.
