Base Salary
$79k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, optimize, test, deploy, and maintain distributed-system components and production cloud services.
- Build scalable and fault-tolerant systems using distributed-state management, replication, redundancy, automatic failover, retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts.
- Develop performance and load tests, fault-injection and brown-out scenarios, alarms, dashboards, telemetry, and alerting to validate reliability and correctness.
- Create automation scripts, tooling, and infrastructure as code for troubleshooting and cloud-infrastructure management.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues, participate in operational-support rotations, incident response, root-cause investigations, and follow-up improvements.
- Apply multi-tenant security controls including encryption, access controls, and remediation while meeting compliance, change-management, and documentation standards.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineering teams; conduct code reviews; document systems; drive projects; and mentor junior team members.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of software-development experience, or a relevant bachelor's degree plus 4 years of software-development experience, or a relevant master's degree plus 2 years of software-development experience, or a relevant doctorate.
- Demonstrated knowledge or ability in distributed systems, prototyping, programming, software engineering, web development, operating systems, API development and integration, algorithm engineering, source control, and information vulnerabilities.
- Proficiency in Java, Python, Go, C++, C#, or a similar programming language.
- Strong data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, software-engineering, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Experience building, testing, and debugging production-quality software, with familiarity with REST APIs, databases, cloud applications, and agile methodologies.
- At least 2 years of cloud-platform experience, 3 years of system-level testing and automation, and 2 years delivering and operating large-scale distributed systems.
- Preferred qualifications include experience leading or mentoring team members and cloud-platform experience.
