Base Salary
$180k - $275k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead planning, design, implementation, and end-to-end delivery of Airwallex’s engineering productivity system and domain-level technical roadmaps.
- Analyze engineering productivity needs, design complex architectures, and develop core platform functions with feature teams.
- Build scalable infrastructure services including messaging platforms, observability systems, and workflow automation tools.
- Define and deliver AI-powered developer productivity solutions such as AI-assisted code review, automated test generation, intelligent build optimization, and agent-based root-cause analysis.
- Architect and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines to reduce build times and increase deployment frequency.
- Review RFCs, establish engineering best practices and design patterns, mentor engineers, and raise the technical quality bar.
- Drive quality-gate enforcement, including 80% unit-test and integration-test coverage, and uphold change-management standards.
- Partner with engineering teams, SREs, and stakeholders to identify bottlenecks and use metrics such as build times, deployment frequency, and developer satisfaction to prioritize improvements.
Requirements
- Experience designing and developing large-scale distributed, high-concurrency, high-load, and highly available systems.
- Mastery of server technologies, service optimization, data-query optimization, and high-availability engineering.
- Strong proficiency in backend programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, Kotlin, Rust, or Node.js and their corresponding frameworks.
- At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience, including CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling, or platform infrastructure at scale.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, architectural decision-making, mentoring, and cross-team influence.
- Hands-on experience with cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Aliyun and infrastructure tools including Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Strong system design skills and the ability to own technical strategy and make architectural decisions balancing performance, scalability, maintainability, and cost.
- Experience with AI/ML tools or LLM integration for developer workflows, automated code review, or engineering productivity is preferred.
- Familiarity with Cursor, Copilot, observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or ELK, and production incident response is preferred.
- Understanding of messaging systems such as Kafka, data streaming, container orchestration, and microservices architecture is preferred.
- Experience with platform engineering, developer experience, productivity metrics such as DORA metrics or developer NPS, build systems such as Bazel or Gradle, or internal developer portals is a plus.
